How about Gary Howells, Doug Merrick, Morris Kushner, Wes Jordan, Tom Dorsey, Sam Carlson, D.J. Duck and Nat Uslan just to name a few. Everyone hears about Garrison, Payne, Dickerson but these other guys were real. They made rods, innovative tools, new tapers and kept the bamboo craft alive until the renaissance brought on by The Movie. I know Winston never gets the accolades of Leonard as it is a newer company and it's out West .The San Francisco scene was incredible, nothing like that in the stultified East. Jon Tarantino was a casting rock star who left us too early. Let's all give these lesser remembered their due and keep their collective efforts up front for all to see. History is remembered for it's big events but they are always only a part of a bigger mosaic.
If you want a 1971 flashback have look and listen to this young lady from James Madison High School.
