There are two camps as it relates to sawing strips, those that think it makes a lot of sense and those that think it is heretical. I will leave that up to you. The tool is not for everyone as you need a bandsaw and a tablesaw to use the tool effectively.
As many of us older dudes have all this stuff anyway the jig is a great addition to any shop. The big benefit is raw strips that are STRAIGHT, no more dealing with bends and kinks in the cane. You still need to flatten your nodes but otherwise the strip runs through a beveller more easily, sits in the planing forms better and should help you get straighter sections. If you are a MHM user or someone with a finish mill these strips will be a real time saver.
The good news is that there are still folks working to add quality tooling options for bamboo makers, Well done Jed and "Damn, I wish I had of though of that!"
