I should say that Tim is a friend and as such a disclaimer is required and having said that ,the Abbott Node Press is a great tool. I heat and press nodes to try and keep the nodal "scar" as small as possible on the rod. Many are grinding the node down which works well but exposes the white cord-like power fibers. My existing vise does the job well in two steps but Tim's press does it equally well in one step and also does a better job of straightening the node. It is faster than the old way and more enjoyable and is an ergonomically superior tool. That's a solid triple in my book. A car is a car but the car with power steering is easier and more enjoyable to drive. Think of Tim's press as the "power steering" of node work, a great tool and "Damn, I wish I had of thought of that!"
